Performance in cycling is the result of the physiological capacity of the athlete and the chosen bike/material and their interaction. Combining the propulsive and resistive forces acting on the bicycle, a prediction can be made about the cyclist's performance during a time trial.

Triathlon suits have to optimize performance in three absolutely different disciplines. In this review, the basic requirements of the respective discipline on the clothing, as well as the technical possibilities and a corresponding classification in the rules and regulations of the International Triathlon Union (ITU) should be presented.
